Geneva Motor Show 2015

Everyone should attend an international motor show at least once in their lives.  Well, maybe not everyone but certainly everyone who has at least a passing interest in cars.

Geneva 2015 blew me away.  The sheer size and scale of it is breathtaking.  A total of 7 halls at Palexpo, next to the airport, crammed full of gleaming metal and associated paraphenalia.  Just about do-able in a day, but only with several pit stops thrown in and plenty of refreshments (water!) to keep you going.

And then there were the cars.  Perhaps it's because of what I do but I've never been one for the really fancy stuff.  If I'm honest I'm more interested in the mainstream product and at Geneva I wasn't disappointed.  As it's the first show of the season the manufacturers are queuing up to show of their new models.  None more so than Volkswagen who scooped the coveted Car of The Year title for the new Passat. But it could quite easily also have been Renault with their new Qashqai-rivalling Kadjar or Skoda with their voluminous new Superb. Alternatively take your pick from the new Volvo XC90, whose gaping grille was the big talking point of the show, or Land Rover's accomplished new Discovery.

I've got some mad friends who attend Geneva for the day, yes day, but I did it over two days, allowing time to take in the sights of the city too. And, do you know what, I'd thoroughly recommend that to anyone.
